How come “instant approval” credit cards are never instant approval?

Alexa’s mommy ♥ asked:

Is it because that means I got denied?
Are there any good credit cards that will approve me with not so good credit? that I could get today?
Hey DICKnose- I’m at work so I have 8 hours day to ask as many questions as I want. YOU’RE the one taking the time to count my questions- that’s pathetic

You will not find any company that will send you a card instantly. Instant approval means you can get approved instantly online but your card won’t be arriving for few business days in mail. All my credit card applications have been online and approved instantly. So, thats what they mean by instant cards.

If you are looking for a card that you can get approved for, try the following site that breaks down cards based on credit requirements. If you apply for the right card, you’ll definitely get approved. If you are a college student, student cards are a good option that gives you a better chance at getting approved. Good luck!

The ‘pre-approval’ cards are simply a marketing gimmick. To be ‘pre-approved’ is more redundant than anything, as you’re either approved, or not. This is why they make you fill out a complete application, just as they would anyone else. It is to lure you into their database, so that they can attempt to extend you a line of credit.

As your score improves, and you have more lines of credit….you will get inundated with these pre-approval offers. Simply ignore them.

There are some decent cards out there for people with not-so-great credit, but really that comes down to what your score actually is, what is contained on your credit report, your income and job history, and other factors. If you in fact know what’s on your report, and know your FICO (Equifax) credit score, you could start at this site: and compare your score with those who have submitted their credit card info, and see where you stand.

It would really help us if we knew your score and past credit history, to gauge a semi-lucid response.

Jesus lady you’ve got a lot of time on your hands. 20 questions posted in four days?? What do you do all day, sit at home and troll Yahoo Answers looking for attention? Get a hobby.

I work as a credit card analyst, manually reviewing credit reports to determine whether or not to approve or deny credit line increases, APR decreases, and general applications for credit, and I thought that you asked a pretty interesting question that I’d like to answer based upon not only my professional, but personal experience as well.

The only time that “instant approval” is “instant approval”, is when you have A-1 credit. The more credit problems you have, the less likely that “instant approval” will be so instant. There’s a lot of factors that are involved with that. Most times when you get those “pre-selected” or “pre-approved” offers in the mail, the offers are based on a general profile that your credit history may fall under, which is fairly generic, since in order to get approved you have to formally apply, and your credit is actually reviewed.

To answer your question about whether there’s a good credit card that will approve you, honestly, cards like that are few and far between, especially with the way the industry’s taken a beating (trust me, I see it everyday), and the best option in your case by far and away would be a secured credit card. These are the easiest credit cards to get, mainly because a collateral deposit is reuqired upfront in order to establish a matching credit line. For example, if you deposit $300, then your credit line would be $300. With a secured card, you use your own money to assume the risk, and once you prove you’re creditworthy, the deposit is given back sometime later on.

Hopefully, my answer can help shed some light on your situation….

    Thanks for reading

if you are trying to get a credit card, and are having trouble being approved, do not be alarmed. I am certain that there is a perfect card out there for you. Check out. The “review section” of each card explains in depth, what you need in order to qualify.
